American as Apple Pie

 Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples, such as Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, or Braeburn
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 pre made pie crusts

 

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  • Wash, core, peel, and cut apples into thin slices
  • Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl
  • Grease pie pan and place in on of the pie crusts, crimping the top
  • Arrange apples in layers, and sprinkle each layer with some of the cinnamon sugar mixture
  • Place pieces of butter on top layer of apples, and cover with top crust slicing a few vent holes in crust
  • Place pie on lower oven rack and bake for 10 minutes, Lower temperature to 350 and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
